The Recruitment Process Explained

Recruitment is a core function of a company. It is a process that involves everything from identifying, attracting, screening, shortlisting, interviewing, selecting, hiring and on-boarding employees. Recruitment teams can be small or large depending on the size of the company and many companies opt to outsource their recruiting needs as a part of developing a comprehensive recruitment process to attract and retain top talent.

Sourcing Candidates

To begin, we employ a variety of methods to source qualified candidates. This includes everything from traditional job boards, social media promotion, headhunting and taking advantage of broad networks. The strategies are dynamic and adaptive to ensure efficiency.

Preparation: Creation of a customized job description/ad to attract candidates who meet the qualification requirements and cultural fit for the client.

Traditional job boards: Promotion through a wide range of traditional job boards, as required, such as, ZipRecruiter, Google, and many more.

Headhunting: Utilization of LinkedIn, Facebook, Indeed and other applicable platforms to pursue qualified candidates who are not on the active job market, but match the position qualifications.

Social media promotion: Facilitating an awareness campaign through company social media platforms including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and Google Business Page. This includes sponsored ads as required.

Screening Candidates

The next step involves the screening process where we conduct phone and virtual interviews, personality and skills assessments, as well as background and reference checks. Hundreds of options are determined through the consultation process and custom assessments can be created.

Phone screening: Summary review of the candidates resume to determine basic qualification fit and establish suitability to proceed to the interview stage.

Video interview: Detailed and thorough interview, reviewing past experiences, future ambitions, innate skills and behavioural tendencies.

Personality assessment: DISC profile assessments utilize a series of questions to determine personality traits or inclinations using four categories: dominance, influence, steadiness and conscientiousness.

Skills assessment: Hundreds of assessments are available verifying both soft and hard skills. These include specific software packages (i.e. Quickbooks), cognitive, behavioural and industry specific tests.

Background/reference checks: Verification of employment history, work ethic and other skills as detailed by the candidate and as required by the position. Completion of criminal background and/or credit checks (if applicable).

Presentation: Top candidates will be forwarded with a summary of candidate qualifications, applicable assessment results, personality summary and any identified weaknesses.
